Good morning. Welcome to the University of New Haven. My name is Victor Rodriguez. And I'm the chair of the Legal Studies and Political Science Department. I'm here today to talk to you a little bit about our political science program. Very exciting times in the political world, both in the United States and around the world, right? These are times where if your interests are in pursuing and understanding how government works, understanding some of the challenges we have, from a policy perspective, how do we get together and agree on what needs to be done to help society create a better environment for all of us. Those are the kinds of things we struggle with and we challenges we deal with. And therefore these critical thinking skills, reading skills, writing skills that we help you develop in the Political Science program will become your tools to make change in this world. About our programs specifically, we have a very strong emphasis both on theoretical political science, discipline and field. And also in experiential education. We are firm believers in having you have experiences out in the real world, where you can apply a lot of the knowledge that you acquire in the classroom, from our award winning Model United Nations program, to our internship opportunities, both through the Washington Institute in Washington, DC, and also the Mayor's Commission here in West Haven. They're all kinds of different internship experiences that we can help you organize and obtain as part of your college education that will help you apply everything you've learned in the classroom. These, again, are exciting times and we hope that your interests in making a change in the world will spark some interest in finding out more about our programs in our courses. We have courses in political theory, we have courses in international relations, international affairs, we have courses in American government and politics, local government, how do you organize a state government. And we also do comparative politics courses, where you get to compare different political systems around the world. And we also look for opportunities to work together with other programs, that legal studies programs, of course, but also with programs that offer similar activities and interests, and then those that we offer the Political Science program. Well, I hope you'd be interested in reaching out to us and we'd be happy to, to answer any of your questions. You can find my email in the faculty website, for the program for the department and hope to hear from you. Have a wonderful day.
